The proposed site west of Bronson should be rejected immediately as unsuitable, for the many reasons given at the Wednesday Dec. 18 evening meeting at City Hall convened by Councillor Mckenney. The new building should be in Confederation Park, for the many reasons given at that meeting and in the letters on this subject published in the Ottawa Citizen.

I hope the city will consider geothermal heating for the building and will ensure that the architects are familiar with Ottawa winter including the impact of wind tunnels and ice run-off from sloping roofs. I am strongly in favour of a walkable boutique branch of OPL located near city hall for those who just need to pick up/drop off books or access minimal services. This satellite branch needs to be part of the cost of this move.

Lebreton Flats is a perfect location for new central library. Why not mitigate fears of existing central library patrons by keeping a small branch open somewhere near the Rideau Centre?
